Footbags aren't Hacky Sacks

Hacky sacks are footbags though. Here in the united states when most of us see a Footbag with think "hacky sack". That term is a trademark owned by a toy company.... Just like: "band-aid", "Q-tip", "Chapstick", "Kleenex",  "Vaseline", and even "Scotch Tape" to name a few trademarks that became household names.

I always have a footbag with me and if I get the chance to play, I will!  My motivation behind playing is to stay in shape and keep my reflexes and coordination at their best. It is also very good for anxiety!! Plus I just have to be moving all the time.

Being a creative person who loves to make thing, when 7th Heaven stopped carrying footbags I knew I had to start making them. I bought the last of what they had to last me a while.  I wanted to design them and have someone else make them so I posted on face book and hoping one of my sewing friends or family would want to  join in... Nope... So after a year and burning through the footbags I decided I had to learn to making them. So I spent the better part of a year leaning and testing and trying different materials and finally came to an 8 panel design that I am using because they can be made with a sewing machine. I also recently have a person on board as my stitcher, who will be doing most if not all of my machine work. I will then be able to make 32 panels by hand.

On this journey  I learned that  "Hacky Sack" is a trademark owned by a toy company. So I try my hardest to use the word Footbag... it's hard even my kids call them Hacky  Sacks...
